kamo, inc. has experience working with firms that produce many forms of technology. This page provides an example of one promising technology with which kamo has worked. Please also read an example of kamo's experience in the field of 3D graphics.

In the early 1990s, kamo, inc. began to represent a Rhode Island startup called Electronic Book Technologies (EBT). EBT's mission was to produce a suite of powerful tools built upon a burgening standard called SGML (the progenator of HTML which is used to format documents available for browsing on the Internet).

kamo, inc. began to represent EBT at a time when there was a very low awareness of the usefulness of it's products by Japanese corporations. kamo's first task was to 'educate the market' by visiting Japanese companies and seeking out potential early adopters and collaborators.

kamo, inc. set up EBT's first two distributors and value-added reseller in Japan, continuing to work with EBT until 1994, just after they began to sell their product in Japan. By setting the groundwork and nudging the market to maturity, kamo, inc. ensured that there would be a large market for EBT products.

EBT was acquired by INSO Corporation for US$40 million in 1995; its products are well-respected tools with a large market share in Japan and around the world.

The Promise of Digital Documents

The PC revolution has brought about widespread computer usage, but many people still use computers to produce documents which are asthetically pleasing (e.g a beautiful printed resume or a web page with lots of fancy bells and whistles) without making full use of the potential of the computer to structure documents, make them available for sophisticated searching and sorting, and re-use content in different ways to get the best use out of it.

Digital document technology is used in large organizations which handle mammoth documents sets or documents with frequently changing content and in applications where the same textual information needs to be referenced in multiple ways. This technology has considerable promise in many fields including the manipulation of personal document sets.
