The "Asama" Nagano Shinkansen (Bullet Train) line opened on October 1, 1997 has cut travel time to Tokyo to less than two hours.

JR Nagano Bullet Train "Asama" from TOKYO to UEDA (approx. 1 hr 30 min)
Shinano Line (toward NAGANO) from UEDA to SAKAKI (approx. 5 min)
Note: Some "Asama" bullet trains do not stop at Ueda.


JR Chuo Line "Shinano" from NAGOYA to SHINONOI (approx. 2 hr 30 min)
Shinano Line (toward UEDA) from SHINONOI to SAKAKI (approx. 15 min)
Note: Some Chuo line trains do not stop at Shinonoi.
